Abstract
The online lecture introduces us to the Italian painter and architect Giotto di Bondone, who influenced pan-European High Gothic painting. A century later, it even sparked the emerging Renaissance.
He dealt with pictorial space and lent his characters monumentality, serious mental events and emotional life. He painted in Assisi, Padua, Rome and Florence, where he built the bell tower of the cathedral and befriended Dante Alighieri.
