Resources: The Czech Medical Society of JEP - the Society of General Practice periodically monitors citizens' opinions on selected aspects of general practitioners' activities. This publication follows previous outputs of research carried out between the years 2015 and 2018.
Aim and methods: The aim of this research was to identify Czech citizens' opinions on some aspects of the work carried out by general practitioners (GPs). The method of conducted interviews between interviewer and respondent (face-to-face) performed by a professional agency was chosen with the aim to representatively research the opinions of Czech citizens.
Statistical data was processed by SASD 1.4.10. Results: In the representative sociological research, 1 806 citizens were interviewed.
The subjects of the sample were chosen randomly using quota-type selection. The research results are representative of Czech citizens over the age of 15, with respect to gender, age and region.
The citizens are by a vast majority satisfied with the care and time invested in their examination by their GPs and nurses. Only a small minority of subjects hold a negative opinion.
Compared to the 2016-2018 period, the number of citizens who expressed the highest degree of satisfaction, significantly increased in 2019. 59.6% of Czech citizens state that they find e-prescription provided by their GPs fully or mostly satisfactory. Only 8.4% of respondents state they are somewhat or completely unsatisfactory, less than 1/4 of Czech citizens (24.0%) don't know or haven't had any experience with e-prescriptions so far.
Regarding e-sick notes provided by GPs the majority of Czech citizens (61.1%) were not informed of this possibility, 22.3% were only partially informed and 16.6% were fully informed. Citizens of the Czech Republic are completely or partially satisfied with the information provided by their GPs regarding the use of medication, only 4% of respondents were somewhat or not completely satisfied with the information, 84.0% of Czech citizens are completely or partially satisfied with the information provided by specialists, only 2.0% are somewhat or fully unsatisfied.
Almost 3/4 of respondents (73.8%) never heard of the term "telemedicine", 13.9% partially encountered the term, the remaining 12.3% of respondents know this term. The level of knowledge of the term "telemedicine" is therefore low among the Czech population.
