The article deals with a specific period in the theology of Zdeněk Trtík in relation to the concept of the Spirit of Christ. This concept was important not only for him, but also for the whole tradition of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church (CHC).
The article focuses on the period of the turning point in deliberation about the Spirit of Christ, which was influenced by Trtík's personalistic turn on the one hand and by his turn in faith from rationalism towards the personal experience of meeting the Risen One on the other hand. This break was manifested in an interesting way in Trtík's two-part Komentář k věrouce - Commentary on the Věrouka v duchu církve československé (Faith in the Czechoslovak Church) by Alois Spisar.
In Trtík's Commentary, the Spirit of Christ is almost completely conceptually absent, although it is present in the purport. At the same time, the concept of the Spirit of Christ is not yet completely sharply classifiable to the period before and after the turn.
The study deals with two topics that are important for the concept of the Spirit of Christ in Trtík's theology. The first one is the Spirit of Christ as contented in the Scripture, Christ himself present in the faith by the power of the Holy Spirit as associated with another important principle of the CHC tradition of freedom of conscience.
The second one is Christ's presence in the sacrament of the Lord's Supper. Trtík's approach used in the Commentary is compared with younger and later Trtík's texts in order to make the development of this concept more clearly observable.
The aim is to explore this until now uncharted period of Trtík's theology of the Spirit of Christ, also with the regard to a possible conceptual apparatus unencumbered by this confessional approach, which will be useful in the ecumenical dialogue.
