Abstract

The review describes Rüdiger Görner's book Franz Kafka's acoustic worlds as a study, based on comprehensive material that actually shows the dimensions of the acoustic and musical as one of the defining elements of Kafka's texts. It is criticized that the study too often slips into sentence-like terms and repeatedly falls into the fundamental error of Kafka research - namely, a 'deciphering' of the riddle that these texts are supposed to represent.
