Abstract

The paper deals with the role which the International Criminal Court could play in the protection of the environment. In particular, the question whether serious cases of environmental harm may be under certain circumstances considered crimes under international law is addressed.

To achieve the aim, the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court is analyzed, especially in the light of the International Criminal Court's policy paper on case selection and prioritization.
