Abstract

The first goal of the authors of this monograph was to improve the diagnosis and evaluation of spondyloarthritis in routine clinical practice. The second goal was to update treatment procedures and improve the results of SpA treatment.

The basis of successful treatment of axial SpA is the correct evaluation of disease activity and assessment of the occurrence of extraarticular symptoms. Traditionally, BASDAI scores and separately CRP scores were ušed to evaluate the activity of axial SpAs.

Currently, the ASDAS score seems to be the most appropriate indicator of activity for routine clinical practice. The individual threshold values of this score, referred to as inactive disease (remission), low disease activity, medium and high disease activity, were also newly defined.
