Abstract
In the countryside, in the remote corners of the world, such as the Balkan Mountains, unprecedented extravagant villas and entire villa landscapes mushroom. In the time of globalization, marginalized residents, often from ethnic, ethno-religious or social minorities, draw on newly opened global economic flows and often invest everything they earn in their extravagant houses.
