Abstract
The work is focused on the understanding of basic activities and work tasks related to the position of a clinical psychologist. This basic analysis of prerequisites and activities has been developed according to the globally recognized O*NET professions database.
The article reviews the work of a clinical psychologists, defines their competencies and the required knowledge. At the same time it also distinguishes their work from the work of psychiatrists, psychotherapists or other mental health professionals.
Since the O*NET database is governed by standard procedures and requirements in the United States, the article also offers comparisons with the Czech clinical-psychological practice.
