Abstract

The main text of this book presents an inventory of various rocks and reliefs that determine or at least influence the biology of the landscape. And because "icons" of Czech and Moravian national identity - Velehrad, Prague Castle, Karlštejn, the rotunda on Říp - were built on important hills, along rivers and in the rugged landscape in general - it is obvious that geodiversity is at the beginning of most cultural values of our landscape.

The second part of the book focuses on the future: What will the landscape look like with uneven rainfall and longer episodes of drought, with higher average temperatures? We are almost certain that the future landscape will need a return to old forest care techniques, traditional soil care, but at the same time we cannot do without the latest technologies and experimentation with irrigation methods, new crops and forest trees.
