Abstract

The postglacial succession of mollusc communities in Czech sandstone landscapes is characterised by extensive changes in species composition associated with long-distance migrations and episodes of local extinction. The cause was natural postglacial changes in the rock and soil environment (leaching, especially of calcium cations) and, since the Bronze Age, increasing human activity.
