FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH MONITORING GEOPHYSICAL SYSTEM SGI 1 AT BUKOV UNDERGROUND RESEARCH SITE

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2020

Abstract

An Underground Research Centre PVP Bukov of the Radioactive Waste Repository Authority (SÚRAO) was established at the uranium mine in Dolní Rožínka, where the mining was closed. Experiments are being gradually installed or prepared at this site to facilitate the implementation of the planned underground radioactive waste repository in the Czech Republic.

In September 2018, preparations for the installation of the geophysical monitoring system SGI 1 were started here. In 2019, the installation of the system was completed and between August 2019 and August 2020 the first stage of routine measurements with this system takes place.

The abbreviation SGI 1 expresses the terms seismics, geoelectrics, internet, verse 1. The system monitors the behavior of seismic waves and changes in the sizes of specific rock resistances.

The measured data is stored in the computer's memory and then the measured data is transferred over the Internet to specialized workplaces for further processing. The article presented here provides the first findings from the operation of the monitoring system.
