Abstract
The contribution deals with anadromous lampreys registered in the territory of the Czech republic. In the past sea and river lampreys arrived in this teritory through the Labe River.
Last specimen of the sea lamprey (Petromyzon marinus) was registered in Bohemia in the year 1912 and the river lamprey (Lampetra fluviatilis) was last found in the year 1927. The reason for the disappearance of both species were water pollution and high transverse barriers (dams and weirs) so that these species were blocked in swimming upstream.
Nevertheless both species mighty appear in the Labe River in our territory as there are recent reports of their find in the largest European fish ladder in Geeshacht (Germany). The river lamprey was several times registered at Bad Schandau (Germany) not far from the Czech border.
A surprising finding of dead male of the river lamprey at the confluence Labe and Malé Labe rivers in Bohemia in the year 2021 is presented. This fact indicates a renewed occurrence of this species in our waters.
