The Death of Jesus in the Tradition of the Gospels

Publication at Protestant Theological Faculty |
2006

Abstract

If we follow the narrative of the story of Jesus, as presented in the gospels, we see that this tradition devoted considerable attention to the final phase of his life and his execution, and even did so during the course of the preceding phases. This reflects the conviction of the ?post-Easter? Christian movement that Jesus´s story including his death is of universal impact.

One of the possibilities to interpret this impact is the tradition of the ?vicarious death?.
