The Seed of a Creative Idea Does Not Die: Artistic Activities for Secondary-School Pupils Inspired by the Legacy of Terezin Children

Publication at Faculty of Education |
2020

Abstract

The extraordinarily valuable legacy of the children interned during the Second World War in the Terezín ghetto has considerable pedagogical potential. It can be used also within arts-related subjects (music education, visual arts, drama education).

Thanks to their historical and social context, such activities offer a significant overlap into other educational fields as well (history, social science). The primary aim of this article is to share the results and experiences from more than ten years of practice of such artistic activities at the Přírodní škola secondary school in Prague, Czechia.
