Preparing Czech Teachers to adapt students to everyday life and/or to lead them to acquiring the general culture knowledge

Publication at Faculty of Arts |

Abstract

The text deals with the issue of a relationship between education and key competencies in the training of future teachers in the Czech Republic. Against the background of criticism of the vague formulation of expected outcomes in the Czech Educational Frameworks, the text criticizes the rhetoric of competencies and its negative effects on the educational standards of students at all levels of schools.

The text also addresses the issue of a vague grasp of the construct of education in connection with the current state of the university institution and the ideology of the knowledge society. The question is raised to what extent the concept of education still plays a role in the training of future teachers.
