Abstrakt
The international Artists--in-Residence program was established in 2007 and is the largest studio program in Central Europe. MeetFactory facilitates ten studios, which annually host over thirty visual artists, curators, musicians, theater directors, and writers.
We foster the involvement of our artists in residence not only within the programming of MeetFactory (Open Studios, Public House, Museum Night, etc.) and its three exhibition spaces (exhibitions, performances, guided tours), but also in the context of the Czech and Central European art scenes. Residency of Markéta Magidová lasted from 1.3.2020 to 31.8.2020. Exhibition and performances during the open studios (13.8.2020) took place in the following studios: Czech studio: Markéta Magidová Food Studio - Marie Lukáčová, Denisa Langrová a Alex Sihelská The New Dictionary of Old Ideas - Minh Thang Pham Performance Studio - Kateřina Konvalinová, Isabela Grosseová a Jesper Alvaer, Tania Nikulina & Jana Mikle Permament Studio - Urban Space Epics Host studio: Jakub Hošek Markéta's Magidová project was inspired by gender stereotypes withing the representation of fictional characters, especially mermaids.
She used pop-culture images to recreated the psychology, anatomy and behaviour of mermaids. The digital paintings were printed on textiles and presented on wall.
