Teachers' Burnout Syndrome

Abstract

The book is focused on the burnout syndrome among teachers. The burnout comes from chronic stress and leads to strong mental and physical problems, poor teaching, poor relationships with colleagues and students.

The aim of the book is for teachers to gain a good awareness of the risks associated with professional demands, gain an orientation in the concept of "stress" and "burnout" and make a perception of their manifestations, understand the causes of stress and burnout at the individual, school and departmental level. The book shows which steps can be used by teachers to reduce the risk of burnout, try a set of specific techniques.

The book is based on the results of the largest research on burnout among Czech teachers, which was conducted in 2017-2018. The research was financial supported by the Czech Science Foundation.
