Abstract

Half a century ago, The Cooper Institute for Aerobic Research (CI) was founded. Founder Dr.

Kenneth H. Cooper, "Father of Aerobics," intended it as a non-profit organization to prove that physical activity is a medicine.

The Cooper Institute's research projects focus on epidemiology, exercise physiology, behavioral changes, hypertension, children's health problems, obesity, nutrition, aging and other health problems that can be affected by physical activity. Every year, the institute organizes and provides educational and certification programs for more than 15,000 qualified senior fitness trainers and health professionals.

The programs are offered not only on own campus in Dallas, but also in other locations throughout the United States. Over the last decades, technological progress has made it possible to study processes at the cellular level.

The Cooper Institute, in collaboration with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW), is one of the world's leading molecular genetics research institutes. Cooper Clinic Laboratory has been selected as the winner of the COLA Laboratory Excellence Award for the seventh time.

CI, of course, provides its clients with advice not only in relation to physical activity, but also in a number of current health risks, especially related to nutrition, harmful habits and currently the Covid-19 pandemic.
