Publication at Faculty of Arts |

Abstract

The study is focused on the development of historic banquet centrepieces and place settings, and on the evolution of modern trends in presenting them, from a strictly art-historical viewpoint to placing them in a social setting. The starting point is a description of the skill and craftsmanship involved in these objects, also conveying how they functioned in society and culture (above all in the 19th century), and aiming to identify an innovative and interactive use for these treasures in today's displays for the public: this last point has the goal of educating contemporary visitors to historic residences.

Presentation is to be done in strict observance of all curatorial regulations for the protection of these unique and valuable historic pieces.
