Structures, objects: Metaphors of reality

Abstract

The private Saint Pierre collection does not seek to create a comprehensive view, but to discover in France little-known or completely unknown names of Czech artists, especially from the circle of post-war work. It contains a number of rare works, in some cases more complete author's files.

Photographs predominate, drawing, painting, object are represented by points. In the timing of the selection, collectors prefer artists who belong to the so-called "generation of the 1960s" in Czech art.

It was created not only by completely young artists, but together with them, or even rather mainly, authors whose entry into the art scene was first delayed by war, the subsequent period of hard Stalinism and the slow emancipation of Czech culture, including fine arts. The text defines important areas of collecting interest of the Saint Pierre couple and places the represented works in the context of Czech art of the 50s and 60s.
