Abstract

Backgrounds: Healthy ageing is a challenge for Europe in the 21st century. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the knowledge supporting the health of older adults and the quality of life in its late stages.

Considering the fact that the so-called behavioural health is topical, it is necessary to pay attention to health in a broader context. Objectives: The main objective of the research was to develop a strategy and materials for older people education in SMART technologies, including education in the field of health and healthy lifestyle, and to propose a methodology that will be applicable abroad.

The basis was to analyse the current situation on the example of "older people education in the context of IT inclusion" in a geographical area of the City of Ostrava. Method: Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) using the methodology: 1) of quantitative research, 2) of qualitative research, and 3) focus group.

Sample: 1a) Office workers responsible for community planning. 1b) Organisations for older adults. 2) Community centres. 3) Officials of districts, representatives of organisations for older adults, representatives of community centres; older adults. Results: We designed the methodology how to educate older adults in SMART technologies in order to prevent their digital exclusion.

Such a prediction will facilitate health care and will contribute positively to their quality of life. The methodology is also applicable in an international context.

Conclusion: Active ageing can be achieved in many ways, but it always means active engagement of older adults according to their choice and realisation. This will be achieved by handling digital technologies, also at the level of health care and social inclusion with an emphasis on behavioural health.

An important factor in health care is education, which will be significantly more difficult without knowledge of IT technologies.
