Abstract
It is evident that in pedagogical practice, the knowledge of individual needs of pupils is crucial for the effectiveness of teaching. The text aims to prove that the sound phenomenon, which is known to cause difficulties for certain groups of foreign language students in Czech, can manifest itself very variably even in a relatively homogeneous group of pupils.
The voicing of paired consonants in Czech speech by speakers with mother tongue Chinese was chosen for the demonstration. Both general tendencies and interpersonal and intrapersonal variability were monitored.
Emphasis was placed on the detailed structuring of the phenomenon, which may contribute to a more accurate distinction between easier and more difficult cases. The material consisted of texts read by 8 female speakers and was based on the perceptual analysis.
