Abstract

The vowel quantity in Czech is a difficult phenomenon for foreign-speaking speakers. The probe focuses on the perceptual evaluation of Czech vowels' length in speakers with mother tongue Polish.

The material is read sentences with an ambiguous context, which form the basis of the perception test. The listeners' group comes from the Ostrava region, a region bordering Poland whose dialect contains some features identical or similar to Polish.
