Students with special educational needs during closing schools on Spring 2020: Perspective of Parents

Abstract

The article is focused on the distance learning in the spring of 2020 for pupils with special educational needs from the point of view of their parents. The article presents the results of an online questionnaire survey with the participation of 4030 parents of primary school pupils, of which 506 with special educational needs.

Analyzes have shown that, according to parents, pupils with SEN communicate with teachers less often than parents without special educational needs, parents communicate with teachers more often, but are less satisfied, worried about the child's further development, and children are in less frequent peer contact compared to children without special educational needs. According to an absolute majority of parents, children with special educational needs were not provided with recommended support measures during distance learning.
