Glucagon is used in diabetology for the treatment of severe hypoglycaemia. Glucagon for injection was the only available preparation on the market for a long time.
Because of its time demanding application and a great proportion of mistakes associated with its use, other (easier) ways of glucagon application are sought. Preparation as such is glucagon for nasal application which shows pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic non-inferiority when compared with glucagon for injection and offers easier and faster application.
Among its main side effects, apart from those typical for glucagon itself, are headaches and intranasal irritation.
