Babywearing is the practice of carrying babies in a sling - a cotton scarf or another solid strip of fabric - that is attached to the carrying person's body. Unlike slings, stretchers are aids sewn from the fabric used for carrying children.
At the present time, both kinds of carriers are mainly perceived as an alternative method of transporting children. Opinions on babywearing differ among professionals and the general public alike.
The primary concern is whether the carrying may damage the child's locomotor system.
