Abstract
A detailed afterword to a volume of selected dramatic works by Jean Giraudoux, presenting the author and the works within the context of French literature and theatre. At the same time it follows the plays' reception and staging traditions during Giraudoux' lifetime and after his death, in France and elsewhere as well as in the Czech culture.
