Abstrakt
The article aims at describing the reception of Ancient Egypt in Renaissance Europe. It focuses particularly on art and script, two elements which found its way to European collections and was generally accessible for the scholars of that time.
The specific perception of Ancient Egyptian script was an obstacle in the process of its descifering and lead scholars to a blind alley.
