Bioconsole for Liver transplantation shunt

Publication

Abstract

The functional sample concerns the Bioconsole - a device of its own design for controlling the flow of blood through the extracorporeal shunt and for monitoring the biophysical parameters of blood and other selected variables. Bioconsole is currently used as an essential component in experimental liver transplantation.

The device is based on an x86 touch console supplemented by its own control software and control and measuring hardware. Both SW and HW is based on LabView system-design platform and development environment.

By modifying the control SW, the console can be adapted for monitoring and control of other experimental extracorporeal circuits.
