Self-assessment is an important part of a student's evaluation and a valid source of information about the learning process for the pupil himself, teachers and parents. It is also a very useful tool for acquiring skills in a modern society of the 21st century and plays an important role in the pupil's motivation and learning especially in COVID-19 times when schools are forced to close.

This is considered as an active factor in the learning process in modern teaching. The process of self-assessment is valuable, this value depends on the teaching methods, practise and support provided by a teacher.

To balance the child's self-image, the teacher must choose appropriate techniques, methods, forms (depending from the pupils age) and the teacher should work systematically with children from an early age in long term period. Self-assessment opens the space for pupil's self-perception and self-knowledge, but at the same time with the necessary change in teaching practices supports new motivating elements in lessons and creates a favorable social climate in the classroom.
