Abstract
Envelopes of one-parameter systems of surfaces is a topic of both theoretical and practical interest. However, the definition is not streightforward and universally accepted.
We propose a definition which is quite general and can be in principle used for all implicit surfaces. We also study the computational aspects and actually compute the envelopes for two systems of quadratic surfaces.
