How does a writer seduce his audience in different countries? How does the framework of French literature serve as a favorable background for its reception abroad? In this perspective, a reflection is being carried out on the reception of Jean-Philippe Toussaint's work across various cultures: in which countries, with which publishers are his books published? What is the relationship (if any) between the eventual success of a given book and the continuity of editorial interest? What is the role of the media and can we measure the influence of literary criticism? The reflection is based on theoretical concepts describing the relationship between "major literature" and "minor literature", commenting on the influence of economic actors on the book market or the processes of valuing a literature or an author.
