Abstract
Present Tajikistan is a linguistically rich region - besides official Tajik and Russian as local Lingua Franca there are 13 other Iranian languages and two Turkic languages. Tajik dialects and toponymy present data for understanding linguistic situation before dominancy of Tajik.
