Focusing on the formative 1990-1995 period, the workshop presentation explores in detail the transformation of KV Film Festival within a broader context of economic and political transformation and democratization. It thus shifts focus from politics and economy to culture.
In doing so, it identifies permutations of formative discourses vis-a-vis film culture that reveal the notions of post-communist cultural management, helps to understand how politically compromised "non-event" became a lucrative privately-owned cultural commodity, and contributes to the understanding of the festival's position in the film festival network.
