For a Popular Feminism

Abstract

This discussion piece, building on the argumentation developed by the Feminism for the 99% manifesto, argues for a popular feminism. It does so by responding to two interrelated questions: first, the challenge popular feminism poses to the current feminist movement; and second, the challenge it poses to left movements and parties.

After a short review and critique of mainly liberal and culturally oriented feminisms in the Czech and Slovak Republics after 1989, the text discusses the possibilities of, and barriers to, a popular feminism today.
