Abstract
The prostitution was one of major causes of spread of sexually transmitted diseases. After foundation of Czechoslovakia there were efforts for mitigation of such diseases related with fight against brothels and liberation of women from so called prostitute slavery.
The result of these efforts was abolition law from 1922 that repealed brothels and introduced obligation to undergo medical treatment in case of infection. The law didn't prohibit nor allowed the prostitution it criminalized prostitution realized in scandal way and seduction of under-age.
The repeal of brothels resulted in increase of street prostitution and in transfer of prostitution capital to bars and massage salons. Later, prostitution capital transferred to especially individual forms.
Instruments to suppress prostitution weren't sufficient yet abolition law prevented increase of sexually transmitted diseases despite of increase of street prostitution.
