Anomalous Superconductivity of the U-Ti Alloys

Publication at Faculty of Mathematics and Physics |
2020

Abstract

bcc U-Ti alloys represent type-II superconductors with transition temperatures exceeding 1 K. The highest temperature was observed for the alloy with 80 at.% of Ti (Tc = 3.74 K).

Diluted by Ti, U does not possess magnetic moments and all alloys are weak paramagnets. However, specific heat and resistivity measurements in various magnetic fields indicate very high upper critical field u0Hc2 =16.4 +-0.2 T.
