Abstract

Sarcomas are a group of rare malignant mesenchymal tumors. They can occur at any age and in any location.

The current worldwide trend is the concentration of patients with this diagnosis in specialized high-volume centers. All the more important, however, is a thorough knowledge of the issue of sarcomas in a wide oncological and surgical community.

The most common include sarcomas of the torso, abdominal cavity and small pelvis, retroperitoneal sarcomas, limb sarcomas, visceral sarcomas and GIST. However, the issue of soft tissue tumors is broader and includes other extremely rare diseases, such as desmoid / aggressive fibromatosis, pseudosarcoma protuberans, solitary fibrous tumor, pseudosarcomatoid tumors, and others.

The prognosis of many sarcomas is much better than is traditional among physicians, but the success of treatment requires a thorough knowledge of the treatment of each type of sarcoma. Many patients require multidisciplinary collaboration between different surgical and non-surgical disciplines to ensure optimal diagnosis and therapy.

This book brings the latest knowledge in the field of these serious diseases.
