Translation of "and" in a parallel TED Talk corpus of English, Czech, Hungarian, Lithuanian and French: functions and omissions

Abstract

Cross-linguistic comparison of the functions of the conjunction "and" and the possibilities of its translation, based on the parallel translations of subtitles in TED talks. Pilot study about the underspecification of semantics of some conjunctions in different languages.
