Abstract

The study analyses the effects of negative externalities in the conditions of 1870s Habsburg monarchy. A dynamite factory and a chemical plant in Zámky by Prague served as examples.

The study observes in what manner did the factory surroundings react to negative externalities and how did said reaction influence the business pursuits of companies operating these factories. In the concessional proceeding the different interests of all actors came to light.

The aim of this paper is to understand how these conflicts were being solved in then existing legal, institutional, and social environment.
