Abstract
The diversity of biographical texts might suggest that the biographical writing escapes all genre and stylistic requirements and that the we are allowed to place on it only moral demands. However, the relationship between the biography and the person whose life it is supposed to capture cannot be adequately accounted in the category of truthfulness or fidelity to reality.
