Naphthalimidofurans of general formula I, where R1 is H, alkyl C1 to C12, CH2(CH2)xOH, where x is 1 to 8, allyl, propargyl, benzyl, glycol chains with 1 to 8 glycol (-OCH2CH2-) repeating units terminated with O-alkyl substituent C1 to C12 or OH group, where R2 is COOR1, CON(R1)2, where both R1 substituents may be the same or different, CONH(CH2)xN(R1)2, where x is 2 to 8 and wherein both R1 substituents may be the same or different, CONH(CH2)xNY, where x is as defined above and Y is -CH2-A-CH2CH2-, where A is CH2, CH2CH2, CH2O, CH2S, CH2SO, CH2SO2, CH2NH, CH2NR1, where X = O, Z = CH; R2C and Z are linked by a double bond (R2C=Z) or where X = CH, Z = O; R2C and X are linked by a double bond (R2C=X).
