Art, caricature, the cultural audience and the general public : Notes on the Vienna Secession

Abstract

The analysis of the four main illustrated magazines of humor and satire of Vienna around 1900, with respect on cartoons of exhibitions of the contemporary art. It stresses a satirical style of polemics of Wiener Secession against their conservative opponents (Ver Sacrum magazine etc.).

Few remarks on response of the polemics in the Czech milieu are added.
