Experiments in empirical legal research: pros, cons, and pitfalls

Abstract

This talk introduced the audience to experimental methods in empirical legal research by reviewing some prominent research. The talk discussed both advantages and disadvantages, what legal experiments can and cannot reveal.

Moreover, the talk discussed common pitfalls in both conducting experiments and interpreting results. The talk closed with a cautious outlook on the future development and use of experimental methods in legal scholarship.
