Humprecht Johann Czernin (1628 - 1682) descended from an old Bohemian knight family, in 17th Century promoted to the Count degree. After return from his Grand Tour he was appointed to Successor's Court and he gained the favour of him.
After Leopold's taking up the throne he was authorized with diplomatic tasks and in 1660 appointed as the envoy in Venice. The author pays attention to circumstances and ceremonial of his solemn entry and brings new facts concerning Czernin's residence on the Grand Chanel.
He discovers, that a grand part of envoy's activities referred to mediation of Italian music, theatre or fine arts to Central Europe. In 1663 Czernin fnished his mission in Venice.
