Abstract
The French painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec followed the painting technique of the Impressionists and learned in brilliant drawing with Degas and Renoir. With a stylistic feeling, he approached Art Nouveau.
He drew ideas from the nightlife of Paris, theaters, circuses, variety shows, dance halls, cafes, bars, brothels, but also from horse racing. He aptly expressed the Parisian atmosphere around 1900.
