Abstract

The article deals with the rise of Czech nationalism during the Nazi Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and the transformation of welfare state institutions. The reconstruction of the state and society, which began in autumn 1938 and continued into the period of Nazi occupation, was aimed at creating a Czech 'national community' following the example of the German 'Volksgemeinschaft'.

It corresponded with the scope and nature of social provisions.
