Orthodox Spirituality in Democratic Pluralities

Publication at Protestant Theological Faculty |
2020

Abstract

The paper dealt with the illnesses of democratic societies how they are characterized by the Polish sociologist of Jewish origin Zygmunt Bauman and the German philosopher of Korean origin Byung-Chul Han. It unmasked some of the illnesses of post-modern democratic life, such as liquidity with no borders, transparency, individualization, hyperactivity and production.

Subsequently, I looked for possible appropriate treatments in the sources of Orthodox spirituality.
