Abstract
A philosopher should have the courage to remain on the border between different disciplines and become a mediator between them, but to still speak his own language. On the occasion of his 70th birthday, Miroslav Petříček's students and colleagues published a selection of their own thoughts and research, which, following his example, enters into this risky area.
This extraordinarily talented group of authors from several different generations covers a wide range: from astronomy to animated films, from Proust to the Ranger. Miroslav Petříček left his inspirational mark in all of these fields as well as in many others.
