Abstract

The chapter deals with the issue of the nature of motivation of political actors in the V4 countries, who use authoritarian and populist methods to distort the division of power and, as a result, to distort the very principle of the democratic state. It shows that the political actors in question base their motives mainly on the ideology of nationalism, the new characteristic of which is the intensification of religious elements.

This dynamics is related mainly to the migration crisis, which was the main trigger for the dialectical redefinition of nationalism in opposition to Islam. Religion thus acquires a new role in politics, the analysis of which makes it possible to better understand the reasons for the weakening of the division of power in the constitutional systems of some V4 countries.
